Table of Contents
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the lighthouse to ensure optimal functionality.
- Monitor and operate navigational equipment to aid maritime safety.
- Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs of the lighthouse structure and its systems.
- Record weather conditions, ocean patterns, and other relevant data as required.
- Respond to emergencies, such as power outages or maritime distress signals, promptly and efficiently.
- Communicate regularly with maritime authorities and coastal management teams.
- Preserve the historical and aesthetic integrity of the lighthouse, ensuring it remains a welcoming site for occasional visitors or tours.
Requirements:
- A strong sense of responsibility and independence, with the ability to work in a remote, solitary environment.
- Basic mechanical and electrical skills for maintenance and repair tasks.
- Physical fitness to handle tasks such as climbing stairs, lifting, and working in adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Prior experience in maritime, engineering, or maintenance roles is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Icelandic is a plus.
- Willingness to commit to periods of solitude with limited amenities, balanced by the serene beauty of nature.
